Chicago Poet-Athletes Visit New York

Two fifth grade CPS students head to New York to represent Chicago at the America SCORES National Poetry Slam!

Karneil and Shayanna were chosen from over three hundred CPS students who participate in the America SCORES after school program in Chicago. The two will join twenty five America SCORES poet athletes from around the country to perform original poetry at the Third Annual National Poetry Slam on April 19th.

Future recording artist and current 5th grade poet athlete at Corkery Elementary School. Karneil's favorite subject in school is science and he enjoys reading the Goose Bumps Book series.

Shayanna L.

Future Lawyer and current 5th grade poet athlete at Washington Irving School. Shayanna plays guitar and the flute and she always recycles.
